The Summer Huckleberry Harvest Is an Important Tradition for This Indigenous Tribe in Oregon
The wiwinu, or huckleberry, is a common foodstuff for the Indigenous Warm Springs tribe of north-central Oregon. Each August, its customers established out in search of huckleberry bushes to select, harvesting a bounty for the community’s yearly feast that celebrates the fruit.
