1. It is crucial that you have enough space to do the P90X workouts. A living room should be enough space, but the more room you have the better.

2. Dumbbells or workout bands are a must. Half of this fitness program requires weight training. Make sure you have at least 5 to 25 lbs in dumbbells or a good set of workout bands.

3. Here is another critical piece of P90X equipment you must have. A good pull up bar. Get a door hanging type or a big standing unit. P90X uses a great deal of pull up exercises.

4. A good, solid, and sturdy chair. A lot of the workout require you to use a chair for weight lifting and also for added support for other type of exercises.

If this is all the P90X equipment you could get for the moment, or at least to start, it should be enough. However, if you do want everything for the program, here is a list of some optional, but helpful, equipment.

1. Yoga mat. If you have wood floors this will be helpful. Your knees will thank you.

2. Yoga block. If you have never done yoga or even know what it is, this little piece of P90X equipment will help you through that process.

3. A heart rate monitor is a another little piece of equipment that is optional. If you’re pushing hard through the workouts you’ll get to see just how fast and hard your heart can beat.

4. Push up bars. These are not required but do help out with a better range of motion for all the push up routines in P90X. Also, if you tend do have wrist issues, these will help out tremendously.

Of course you also have all the obvious little items you will need like, proper shoes, workout clothes, good clean towels to wipe off all the sweat you’ll definitely be working up, nice water bottle, and an intense P90X attitude.

Now that you have a list of the equipment that you’ll need, all you have left is to make sure you have the last three absolute vital pieces of P90X equipment. A Television, a DVD player, and your finger… to push play.
