Mourning the loss of Milton Corn, MD, Deputy Director for Research and Education, NLM

It is with good unhappiness that we share the information of the passing of Milton Corn, M.D., FACP, FACMI, Deputy Director for Study and Training. Dr. Corn labored at NLM for more than 30 several years. He died on Sunday, February seven, 2021.

Dr. Corn joined NLM in 1990 as Director of the Extramural Courses Division, with responsibility for all aspects of NLM’s grant programs and remained in that role right up until 2009 when he assumed the situation of Deputy Director for Study and Training. 

As the Deputy Director for Study and Training, Dr. Corn was the principal health care advisor on exploration and advancement and health care instruction priorities for NLM, in which he offered direction and advice on the comprehensive vary of NLM’s intramural and extramural exploration portfolio. He creatively modified NLM’s Teaching Method in Biomedical Informatics to retain tempo with developments in biomedical computing.

“Dr. Corn remaining an indelible mark at NLM — from his considerable contributions to our exploration and grants programs to his superb management and fantastic perception of humor,” reported NLM Director, Patricia Flatley Brennan, RN, PhD. “He touched several life and will be drastically skipped.”

Prior to his provider at NLM, Dr. Corn served as Professor of Drugs at Georgetown University University of Drugs, in which he held a range of management positions, together with Professional medical Director of Georgetown University Healthcare facility and Dean of the University of Drugs. Dr. Corn was a graduate of Yale College or university and Yale Professional medical University. He finished his residency in inner medication at Harvard University’s Peter Bent Brigham Healthcare facility, and a fellowship in hematology at Johns Hopkins University.

Dr. Corn will be remembered for his lifelong dedication to instruction and exploration and his several contributions to the Nationwide Library of Drugs and the broader biomedical informatics group.
