Kidney discomfort — also referred to as renal discomfort — refers to discomfort from disease or damage to a kidney. You might sense kidney discomfort or irritation as a dull, one-sided ache in your upper abdomen, side or again. But discomfort in these parts is usually unrelated to your kidneys.

Your kidneys are positioned in the again of your abdomen less than your lessen ribs, one on each individual side of your backbone. Persons usually are amazed at how higher their kidneys are. Most problems that cause kidney discomfort affect only one kidney. Fever and urinary indications usually accompany kidney discomfort.
