In Remembrance of Kristy Hammam

Dec. 24, 2021 — We have lost Kristy Hammam, WebMD’s long time editor, to most cancers.   She was only fifty.

Kristy’s passing would make no sense.

She did as a great deal to teach the public about excellent wellbeing as almost anybody, ever.  She took care of herself and her relatives.  Exercised.  Ate correct.  Got every single most cancers screening on agenda.  She was generally favourable, like sunshine.  The professional medical odds and karmic gods ended up generally in her favor. 

When identified with breast most cancers three many years ago she embraced every single kind of treatment— immunotherapy, radiation, chemo.  And it labored.  For a whilst.  Until it did not.

At initial, it’s difficult to pull the lessons from Kristy’s lifestyle.   For the reason that it would make no sense.  She did every thing correct.  And even now, this.

But the lessons are there.  You do the correct factors in lifestyle because they are the correct factors to do in lifestyle.  Not because there are ensures.  But because as a mum or dad and as a leader, the odds generally make any difference.    For the reason that you are a job design.  And because you are clever and courageous to your main. 

About a month ago, Kristy flew from Atlanta to Washington DC, on your own, to be with her very best buddy.  Blind and compromised, but never actually, she flew as an unaccompanied minimal. 

I really do not assume I have ever met anybody extra grownup than Kristy.  She generally took responsibility.  She generally produced factors much better. 

I know I converse for anyone at WebMD when I say we have lost a single of our very best human beings. 

It will never make sense.  But she wouldn’t want it to modify anything at all about our mission, which was her mission too.
